The University of Ibadan has confirmed that Godwin Obaseki, the Governor of Edo state, south-south Nigeria is a graduate of the institution.
A statement by the Registrar, of the university, Olubunmi Faluyi, said Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, gained admission to the university in 1976 and graduated in 1979 with a Second Class Honours, Lower Division.
This comes, as some opposition leaders in the state’s chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC earlier said Obaseki did not graduate from the university.
A case of certificate forgery and perjury was filed against him at Federal High Court in Abuja in May.
According to the statement from U.I, Obaseki’s records of admission and graduation are intact in the archives of the university.
