THE WORLD MARKS INTERNATIONAL OZONE LAYER DAY

Ozone layer day

Today marks 35 years of ozone layer protection with the theme Ozone for life.

The world observes International Day of preservation of the Ozone Layer also referred to as World Ozone Day Every September 16.

World Ozone Day shows that collective decisions and action, guided by science, are the only way to solve major global crises.

On this year’s event, the United Nations takes a look at the COVID-19 pandemic that has brought social and economic hardship and says working together in harmony and for the collective good is more important than ever.

According to the UN, climate crisis makes weather events more intense, more extreme and more destructive.

In the meantime, the Secretary-General of the United nations, Anthonio Guterres is calling on the world to take encouragement from how it has worked together to preserve the ozone layer and apply the same will to healing the planet and forging a brighter and more equitable future for all humanity.
