The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP, has filed a lawsuit at an Abuja High court against the governors of the 36 states of Nigeria.
In the suit, SERAP is asking the Court to direct compel all the state governors to use public funds budgeted for security votes and life pension for ex-governors to fund healthcare facilities.
It also seeks a publication of the details of the COVID-19 funds spending in the various states by the governors of the federation.
According to SERAP, many governors are spending state resources on security votes and life pension for their colleagues.
SERAP in its suit said the governors have a legal responsibility to act in the interest of Nigerians residents in their states.
