The Senate on Wednesday urged the Federal Government to as a matter of urgency review age barriers for job seekers during the recruitment process of Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs as well as private organizations in the country.
Senator Ibrahim Gobir, Sokoto East, had sponsored a motion on the urgent need to review age barrier during recruitment and employment.
Gobir cites Order 42 to seek the leave of the Senate to present the Motion.
After consideration of the motion, Senate resolved to ask the Federal Government to direct the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment to set up a Committee to review the age restriction with a view to get the problem of age barrier sorted out.
Senate President, Ahmad Lawan in the agreement says people face discrimination, so he urges “the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment to swing into action immediately.”
