The Nigerian Senate has called for all Service Chiefs in the country to step aside for new ones to come in over recent killing of soldiers and mass resignation from the military.
This was after Chairman, Senate Committee on Army, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, Borno South presented a motion on the rising number of casualties among the Nigerian Army and other security agencies recently to ambushes.
Among the prayers was for the Federal Government to urgently intensify the provision of modern equipment to enhance the operational capabilities of the armed forces.
The lawmakers resolved that the Joint Committees on Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, Defence, and Interior receive briefings on the state of affairs of the services in this regard.
Meanwhile, Senate President, Ahmad Lawan asked the Joint Committees get to the root of about 200 soldiers who have deserted, while he also extended his condolences to the families of the fallen heroes.
