REPS HOLDS PUBLIC HEARING ON THE CONTROL OF INFECTIOUS DISEASE BILL

REPS PASS POLICE ACT FOR THIRD READING

The Nigeria Labour Congress has raised concerns about fundamental rights of the Nigerian People as it participated in a public hearing on the Control of Infectious Disease Bill.
 

The Bill sponsored seeks to repeal the Quarantine Act and enact the Control of Infectious Diseases Bill.

NLC President, Ayuba Wabba, underscored 17 areas in the bill that need attention.

Chairman Nigeria Governor’s Forum, Kayode Fayemi in his contribution said it was not an indictment or criticism, but said the situation calls for local approach to issues of disease outbreaks, with states carried along.

Meanwhile, Leader of the House, Alhassan Doguwa who represented Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila urges everyone to make presentations with open mind, reassuring that the House does not have selfish agenda concerning the bill.
