PRESIDENT BUHARI URGES GOVERNING BODIES TO INTERVENE IN MALI CRISIS

Buhari

Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari is calling on all stakeholders and governing bodies not to relax until peace returns to Mali.

Buhari made this known as he spoke during the virtual Extraordinary Session of the Economic Community of West Africa States’, ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government to discuss the socio-political situation in Mali.

Present with him were the Secretary to Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari; Minister of State, Foreign Affairs, Zubairu Dada and Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Magashi (Rtd) amongst others.

Buhari joined ECOWAS to condemn Tuesday’s military coup d’etat in the country which led to the ousting of the government of President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita.

The president called for strict measures to be put in place to curtail the activities of the military in order to restore peace to Mali.
