Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is calling for an equitable and affordable manner of deployment of the COVID-19 vaccine rather than on the basis of the highest bidder.
This is contained in a statement signed by Laolu Akande, a media aide in the office of the Vice President.
According to osinbajo, this is important in order to effectively contain the spread of the Coronavirus disease across the globe.
The Vice President was speaking at the virtual 2020 EURAFRICA Forum, with the theme “Towards a realistic Euro-African partnership during and beyond the COVID-19 era”.
In the EurAfrican Forum aimed at fostering stronger collaboration between Europe and Africa, and better promote a shared green and inclusive growth, Osinbajo said the partnership between Africa and the European Union is a good platform for both sides to work together on economic recovery and rebuilding of health systems.
The summit featured presentation from notable global leaders including the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, the Prime Minister of Cape Verde, Ulisses Correia Silva.
