LAWMAKER APOLOGISES FOR SUGGESTION ON RAPE ISSUES

A lawmaker representing Damboa/Gwoza/Chibok Federal Constituency of Borno State, Ahmadu Jaha has apologized for linking rape to dressing mode of some women.

The lawmaker had during contribution in a previous sitting of the House, suggested that a person who commits an act of rape should be met with death penalty.

He also asked states to domesticate relevant laws including violence against person prohibition act.

On Tuesday, however, Jaha apologized for the aspect of his contribution that associated rape to dressing mode of some women.
