Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, south-south Nigeria has suspended indefinitely the re-opening of churches and mosques from this weekend as earlier proposed two weeks ago.
The Governor said this while giving update on Coronavirus at the Lagos House, Marina.
He said social events, event centres as well as social clubs remain indefinitely shut.
Sanwo-Olu said the decision is in line with the government’s ongoing evaluation of evolving scenarios regarding the course of the COVID-19 infection in the State and the corresponding public health advisory guidelines issued by experts.
According to him, the suspension becomes necessary with the increasing rise in the cases of coronavirus in the state.
He maintained that it is the responsibility of the government to take protective decisions for the common good of the masses.
