The Government of Kano State, North West Nigeria has declared today public holiday, to mark the new Islamic year 1442 AH.
This was contained in a statement available on the Kano State’s website.
In the statement, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, urged Muslims in the state to use the occasion for “sober reflection and to offer prayers for continued peace, prosperity and general development of the state.”
He urged the people to always fear God in whatever they do, embrace tolerance and live peacefully with one another as the religion preaches.
While believing God for a new year full of happiness and prosperity, Ganduje also prayed for God’s intervention over the economic hardship imposed by the COVID19 pandemic and also the security challenges in the country.
The governor gave assurance that his administration was committed to improving the wellbeing of the people and general development of the state.
