Edo High Court has affirmed Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, as a duly registered member of APC in his ward, and so, was qualified for waiver to contest the party’s primary.
The presiding judge of Edo High Court 6, Benin, Justice Emmanuel Ahamioje ruled that the APC did no wrong in granting Ize-Iyamu the waiver.
Ize-Iyamu was the governorship candidate of the opposition party, PDP in 2016, but has now defected to the ruling APC.
A factional Deputy Chairman of Edo APC, Kenneth Asekomhe, and three others had sought the court to restrain APC from recognising him as an aspirant on APC’s platform.
Justice Ahamioje described the matter as an internal affair of APC and dismissed the suit for lacking merit.
