Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday said the outcome of the recent governorship election in Edo State confirmed that he believed in credible polls.
The President was speaking during an early morning nationwide broadcast to mark the nation’s 60th independence.
Buhari said he is committed to handing down to Nigeria processes and procedures that would guarantee that the people’s votes count.
The President noted that he is a firm believer in transparent, free, fair and credible elections as has been demonstrated during his period as a democratically elected President.
According to him, the problems with the nation’s electoral process are mainly human-induced as desperate desire for power leads to desperate attempts to gain power and office.
