The International Monetary Fund, IMF says additional emergency financing for #Jordan of 396 million US Dollars will support higher spending on healthcare, containment, and assistance to households and companies.
A statement by the international organization added that the fund will help the government deal with the economic impact of the #COVID19 crisis.
The IMF approved Jordan’s request for emergency financial assistance under the Rapid Financing Instrument.
The IMF noted that Jordan has taken proactive efforts since the COVID-19 outbreak to protect the safety of its citizens and refugees.
This includes a strict curfew, prioritized healthcare spending, and took steps to cushion the impact of the shock on businesses and households.
