The World Bank Group says it is now supporting 100 countries in their fight against #COVID19.
It explained that the support to the countries, home to 70% of the world’s population, is helping strengthen health systems, protect the poorest, and support jobs.
The Bank Group fighting to end extreme poverty and promote shared prosperity added that the emergency operations to fight COVID-19 is also meant to maintain the private sector, and sustain economic recovery.
This assistance, the largest and fastest crisis response in the Bank Group’s history, marks a milestone in implementing the Bank Group’s pledge to make available $160 billion in grants and financial support over a 15-month period.
Of the 100 countries, 39 are in Sub-Saharan Africa.
