French President Emmanuel Macron has named Jean Castex, as the country’s new prime minister.
55-year-old Castex, who coordinated France’s virus reopening strategy replaces Edouard Philippe, who resigned earlier today.
He is a career public servant who has worked with multiple governments.
The French President is reshuffling the government to focus on restarting the economy after months of lockdown.
Macron told a local newspaper that he is seeking a “new path” to rebuild the country for the two remaining years of his term.
