Today is Sustainable Gastronomy Day, as designated by the United Nations Assembly in 2016.
Gastronomy is termed as food art and the cooking style from a particular region, a cultural expression related to the natural diversity of the world.
The Sustainable Gastronomy Day is observed globally on June 18 and it takes into account where the ingredients come from, how the food is produced; how it enters the markets and eventually dishes.
It also acknowledges the gastronomy expressions and defines the three-dimension sustainable development: Plant, people, and profit.
It further reaffirms the importance of contributing to sustainable development worldwide for all cultures and civilizations.
