Governor Godwin Obaseki, of Edo state has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The governor made the announcement on Tuesday after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
The announcement comes four days after he was disqualified from participating in the APC primary election ahead of the September 19 governorship poll in Edo State.
The party’s Screening Committee led by Professor Jonathan Ayuba had on Friday last week, submitted its report to the party’s leadership, headed by Comrade Adams Oshiomole after it screened Governor Obaseki seeking re-election.
The party claimed the reason it disqualified Governor Obaseki was because his university certificate had separate dates and his National Youth Service Corps, NYSC certificate could not also not be vouched for.
