NIGERIA’S AIRPORTS AUTHORITY INCREASES SERVICE CHARGE BY 100%

The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria FAAN has announced an increase in Passengers Service Charge from one thousand nairas to two thousand nairas for local flights, 50 dollars to 80 dollars for ECOWAS countries, and 50dollars to 100 dollars on intercontinental flights, with effect from September 1, 2020.

Rabiu Yadudu, Managing Director of Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, said the increase became imperative as the Authority suffered a 97 per cent reduction in revenue.

Yadudu made this known during a press briefing held at FAAN’s corporate headquarters, Abuja. He explained that the sector has invested hugely in airport infrastructure and the current PSC does not correlate with realities of the cost-related inflation rate of 12.82 per cent put by the Central Bank of Nigeria
